Company Background
How We Started
With 20 years of transportation logistics experience behind him, Joe Peterson founded The Banfield Group (TBG) in 1997 to help furniture retailers and manufacturers more effectively manage how they distribute freight. Along with The Banfield Group General Manager Lisamarie Harrison, Joe created Transportation Resource Exchange (TREx), a proprietary database program designed to most efficiently coordinate freight in the retail industry. As expected, the implementations of this program resulted in significant savings on freight shipments for The Banfield Group clients. To date, The Banfield Group has helped over 1500 furniture retailers and 100 manufacturing clients save an average of 20 to 25% on shipping costs.
To offer further savings to our clients, we have established custom programs with over 40 national and regional LTL carriers, Truckload carriers and a vast network of “Last Mile Delivery Agents” to perform Retail and Residential Deliveries. We invoice our clients at a 70-74% discount off of a single class 70 to 85, depending on the shipment and most competitive carrier.
The Banfield Group’s specific focus on the retail furniture industry has allowed us to customize and fine-tune our services to most effectively fit the needs of clients in this market. Along with the JPMA, our clients include NINFRA, BFP, Baby News, USA Baby, Buy Buy Baby, and several other manufacturing and retail companies.
Client Partnerships
The Banfield Group has built a large and loyal client base of retailers and manufacturers in the juvenile furniture industry. We view each client as a partner in the freight management process. It is always our goal to work as an extension of the traffic department and to help maximize efficiency of existing traffic programs. In each partnership we emphasize proactive communication. We assume a support role to the client’s traffic department and handle communication through all stages of the shipping process. It is our goal to relieve the burden of logistics from our clients so that they can focus on their core business.
